Hello creatures and critters of the internet! Hope you’re all well today! If I could have a moment of your time, I’d like to share about some things I’ll be doing going forward when it comes to communicating with me.
If it hasn’t already been noticeable, then I’ll say this: the amount of messages I receive through various online platforms far outpaces what I as one critter can realistically keep up with!
I’ve never established particularly clear boundaries with myself and with others when it comes to communication, in large part because it wasn’t really necessary for a long time. But when some of my comics began taking off on Twitter a few years back, I suddenly found myself with a flood of messages from all sorts of folks wanting to chat in volumes I’d never dealt with before!
Unfortunately, that hasn’t much slowed down since it first started happening, and I find myself unable to keep up with everyone. I’ve left many messages unread and unanswered simply because there’s so many, and it requires a significant amount of social energy to respond to them all.
Going forward, all commission- and project-related communication will only be taken via my business email, tuxedodragondoodles@gmail.com. This also means I will NOT use Discord, Telegram, or another messaging service to conduct commission communications regarding WIPs in the future, as I have previously done (with the exception of Ko-Fi, if the commission was accepted through there).
Here’s a few things you can send to my email:
This also means that I will be cleaning up a bit in my Discord and Telegram DMs, and will reserve that for friends going forward - I am unlikely to accept new friend or message requests out of the blue, and will ignore them. I’m trying really hard with that whole “work-life balance” thing, so I’d like to keep work and project-related communications in a separate spot from my personal chats! I also feel there’s more energy I’d like to dedicate towards fostering my current personal relationships, and I’ve struggled to do that in recent years.
On a final note, I don’t want anyone to feel badly for having reached out to me privately in the last few years - I’m deeply appreciative of folks’ friendliness, gratitude, and desire to connect with me about my art and projects! I respect the time and effort taken to send a message my way, and I wish I could’ve responded to them all in a way that shows that. At the very least, thank you for making this noodle feel seen!
